University Predicted Grade - Code of Conduct

Introduction
Sha Tin College actively supports students in their higher education applications. We have a strong reputation with both local and global establishments. This reputation is based on their confidence in our ability to present our students in the most positive and accurate light. The purpose of this document is to ensure all parties understand clearly and follow proper protocols for receiving predicted grades for university applications. We should all remember that the predicted grade is only one of a series of indicators that institutions of higher education look at when making offers.

Procedure
The predicted grade is a subject teacher’s estimate of the likely diploma score that a student will achieve in the final examinations. It is a professional judgment moderated in discussion with the heads of subject and subject colleagues. The predicted grade takes into account:

  • The student’s current and past performance in the diploma, including internal assessments, class tests, performance in lessons and examinations.
  • The inherent nature of individual subjects.
  • The teacher’s experience and understanding of how performance can develop throughout the diploma.
  • Once released, the university predicted grades can be obtained from the students’ Unifrog account.

Students should:

  • Discuss their academic performance with their teachers and tutors.
  • Discuss strategies with their subject teachers on how they can improve their performance.

Students should not:

  • Approach any teachers for an increase in predicted grades.
  • Ask parents to lobby for an increase in predicted grades.
  • Expect to receive any change in their predicted grades.

At STC predicted grades should not come as any surprise to students. Through our individual approach to teaching and learning and regular transparent feedback, students should be aware of their levels.
