As part of the English Schools Foundation(ESF), our students are supported by the largest English-medium international school organisation in Hong Kong, providing them the resources and opportunities not found outside of ESF Schools.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are at the centre of who we are at ESF Sha Tin College. We challenge our students to make meaningful contributions to the world. We aim to sustain an inclusive culture where every voice contributes to school life, where students can lead their own learning and engage with challenging ideas.
Our students' outstanding achievements reflect their hard work, dedication, and resilience and the unwavering support of our dedicated staff and the wider community.
The Sha Tin College approach to experiential learning empowers our students to explore beyond and discover themselves and others, and the world around them. With a focus on building a strong sense of community, where students can develop essential life skills and demonstrate sustainable practices, our holistic approach aims to nurture well-rounded individuals who are well-equipped for life and intent on making a meaningful impact on the world.
We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all students. Our student support and wellbeing systems include Peer Supporters, Heads and Deputy Heads of Year, Wellbeing Counsellors, Social Workers and Child Protection officers. Our explicit wellbeing curriculum empowers students to take responsibility for their own well-being and contribute positively to our community.
Sha Tin College embarks on initiatives to underscore our commitment to fostering a supportive and engaged school community, addressing the wellbeing needs of students and parents through strong family engagement.
Our Years 7 to 9 students follow the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), offering a challenging and practical learning framework that supports students' transition and integration into the secondary school community, building a solid foundation of critical thinking and global mindedness for the middle and senior years.
In Years 10 and 11, the curriculum is designed to provide a dynamic and inclusive educational experience, with the aim of preparing students for success in a rapidly changing world. Rooted in academic excellence and enriched by our core values of curiosity, generosity, responsibility, and inclusivity, our program fosters intellectual growth, emotional resilience, physical well-being, and social development. We aim to ensure that when students leave us, they are well-rounded individuals ready to contribute as active members of a global society.
The main programme for Years 12 and 13 study is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP), where students can follow the full DP or choose individual DP courses at Higher or Standard Level. For those with defined career aspirations, we proudly offer the IB Careers-related Programme (CP), providing an alternative pathway tailored to their future goals.
We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all students. Our child protection officers are dedicated to addressing any concerns promptly. Our supportive learning environment empowers students to take responsibility for their own well-being and contribute positively to our community.
Our House system is a vibrant and inclusive community that fosters leadership, collaboration, and engagement among students of all ages. One of the hallmarks of the House system at STC is the emphasis on leadership development. The House system has been instrumental in creating a sense of belonging and community among students.
Explorer Week is an opportunity to stop our normal routines and value the learning experience that can be made outside the classroom. During Explorer Week, lessons are suspended for five days and students can participate in a broad range of activities that are not normally available through the regular timetable. Explorer Week is one of the highlights of the experiential learning opportunities at Sha Tin College.
The Activities Programme is a key part of our experiential learning approach to empowering students to pursue their passions, explore new interests, and make new friendships. We aim to ensure a balanced range of activities for students allowing them to ‘Discover Themselves and Others’, ‘Build Community’, ‘Develop Skills for Life’, and ‘Demonstrate Sustainability’.
At Sha Tin College we encourage every student to make a positive difference to our community. As exemplified in our leadership model, we believe that leadership is a choice, can be developed and practised, and that everyone has the potential to be a leader. Our approach to student leadership is supported by clear structures, offering a range of opportunities for students across all year levels to lead.

The Higher Education events were highly rewarding experiences for me as I was able to gain valuable insight into what campus life and the application process were like at different universities.

In the Activities Programme, I was able to challenge myself and improve my skills. I was glad to be able to share my passion with other students and inspire them to enjoy it as much as I do.

The well-rounded curriculum and nurturing learning environment at the school have played a crucial role in my child's academic achievements. The rigorous coursework and committed teachers have equipped her with vital knowledge while fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, the focus on holistic development has enabled her to thrive not only academically but also as a well-rounded individual. I find the parent engagement events to be incredibly beneficial. Coffee mornings and Back to School information evenings have given me valuable insights into my child's school experience and academic progress. These gatherings promote open communication with teachers and other parents, allowing me to stay informed and actively involved in her educational journey. The sense of community created by these events is both reassuring and supportive.
