We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all students. Our student support and wellbeing systems include Peer Supporters, Heads and Deputy Heads of Year, Wellbeing Counsellors, Social Workers and Child Protection officers. Our explicit wellbeing curriculum empowers students to take responsibility for their own well-being and contribute positively to our community.
Counselling Service
Our qualified, experienced and professionally certified counsellors and registered social workers provide confidential sessions to individual students. They act as advocates for student wellbeing in their collaborations with other staff. They lead wellness initiatives for students, provide professional development for staff and lead workshops for parents to promote the importance of holistic wellness.
Peer Supporters
The Peer Supporter Programme builds student capacity to provide mental health support to other students. This increases the availability, accessibility and appropriateness of social and personal support provided to our school community. Students are trained to understand verbal and nonverbal cues, develop empathic listening skills, understand appropriate questioning skills and how to identify mental health needs and refer peers for further support.
Youth Mental Health First Aid Programme
Training in Youth Mental Health First Aid is offered to students, staff and parents. This programme contributes to raising awareness and equipping our community with essential mental health first aid skills.
Wellbeing Curriculum
The programme is delivered by tutors to their respective tutor groups, placing relationships at its core. These tutor teams collaborate to articulate a curriculum which aligns with best practices for social and emotional learning as well as International Baccalaureate (IB) teaching and learning approaches. Students explore key topics weekly, building both knowledge and skills to make informed choices and develop lifelong strategies for their wellbeing.
Learning Support
The Learning Support Department supports positive approaches to students’ neurodiversity through the provision of accommodations and resources to students with diverse learning needs and abilities. The team supports students with a wide range of abilities in accessing the appropriate level of challenge in their academic learning, emotional and social wellbeing, speech and language, social, communication and physical needs.
